Vouchers for Competitions - 22/05/2009 18:41:10

Following the decision of the main committee to change from the vouchers system to cash we have had questions from the members as to whether this is allowed under the R&A rules. It would appear that we been in error in making this decision...

We are sorry for the confusion and would like to clarify the situation.

R&A rules of golf. Page 167

1. Rule 3 .1 An Amateur golfer must not play golf for prize money or an equivalent in a match, competition or exhibition.

2. Rule 3.2 c Exchanging Prizes an amateur golfer must not exchange a prize or prize voucher for cash.

We have entered into correspondence with the R&A to clarify this situation further and have been informed that it is also not allowed to exchange vouchers for bar bills or for subscriptions. Because of these facts we have decided to reverse our decision and return to pro shop vouchers.

Because a number of people have asked for vouchers other than Crown Golf we are willing to consider one other option, members however you will have to contact a member of the main Committee to register your interest by Friday 12th June.

If anyone has any questions regarding this I am happy to answer these and explain our decisions.
