CONGU requires the Handicap Committee to carry out an Annual Review of all Members Handicaps with the intention that they reflect, as far as possible, current playing ability...

In general, players who have played in six or more qualifying rounds in the year should not need to be adjusted.
To help us in this review we have various Computer generated reports available based on Players’ performances in Qualifying competitions over the year. However we will also take into account
1) Performances in Match Play Competitions 2) Performances in Team Competitions 3) General knowledge of Players who’s ability is known to be improving and similarly those who’s ability is known to be declining 4) Permanent Health or Injury
In regard to point 3 we are conscious that we may not be aware of all relevant data.
For this reason we invite any member to contact us (in writing) if they believe that their current handicap (or any other Member) is inappropriate. The letter should clearly lay out the reasons (and evidence) as to why an adjustment to the Member’s handicap (up or down) is recommended. Please note that this is additional data to the Committee and under no circumstances will the Committee be bound by the recommendation.
The review will take place during the latter part of December, with all adjustments to be effective from 1st January 2010. Any handicap adjustment recommendations must therefore be received by the Handicap Committee no later than the 12th December.
